Local APPRISE counselors will be available to assist Potter County residents with Medicare questions at several events this fall.

The Potter County APPRISE Program, a free health insurance counseling program designed to help Pennsylvanians with Medicare, has specially trained counselors to answer your questions and provide you with objective, easy to understand information about Medicare, Medicare Supplemental Insurance, Medicaid and Long-Term Care Insurance.  

There is a vast amount of information associated with Medicare, much of it is complicated and it changes every year. The events are designed to help people who will be on Medicare soon, are already on Medicare or are caring for someone who is on Medicare.

APPRISE counselors will be at these two events:

• Falling Leaves Outdoor Show: Oct. 5-6 at the Courtyard Square in Coudersport from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. both days, weather permitting.

• Rep. Martin Causer’s Senior Expo: Oct. 12 at the Roulette Fire Hall, 12 Riverside Drive, Roulette, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Several other Medicare open enrollment events are by appointment only. Call the Potter County Human Services Area Agency on Aging and ask for Barbara Busch, APPRISE coordinator, at 1-800-800-2560 or 814-544-7315 to schedule a private Medicare counseling session. Attendees should bring their new Medicare cards to their appointments.
