DUKE CENTER — The Otto-Eldred volleyball team rebounded from a heartbreaking loss to Galeton on Tuesday with a resounding three-set win over Austin on Thursday in the North Tier League.
The Lady Terrors won by the count of 25-9, 25-9, 26-24.
“It was a big turnaround from the other night,” O-E coach Jame Thomas said. “Our serving was a lot better. Overall things are looking better.”
Among the contributors for Otto were Haylee Frederick (seven kills, one ace), Harlee VanScoter (six kills, nine digs, nine aces), and Reilly Raught (five kills, 10 service points, three aces).
Otto-Eldred (1-1) will travel to Bradford on Monday.
Coudersport 3, Northern Potter 0
COUDERSPORT — The Lady Falcons rebounded from a five-set season-opening loss to defeat Northern Potter, 25-9, 25-19, 25-6 in a three-set sweep.
“We bounced back nicely from Tuesday’s game,” Coudy head coach Brian Green said. “We did a nice job of eliminating mistakes. The entire team contributed to this win.”
Shaelyn Black led Coudersport (1-1, 1-1) with 12 digs and 12 kills. Mikayla Gunn (nine aces, 12 digs), Mikayla Kavounas (10 assists, two kills) and Dana Dubots (seven kills) also provided key contributions.
Madison Hoopes had seven digs to lead the Lady Panthers (0-2, 0-2).
Both teams return to action on Saturday at the Williamson Tournament.
Port Allegany 3, Cameron County 0
EMPORIUM — The Lady Gators earned a clean sweep on the road on Thursday, topping Cameron County 25-20, 25-9, 25-16.
Jenna Sprankle had 20 assists for Port A (2-0 in league play) while Kierra Keck contributed nine kills and three blocks.
For Cameron County, Hailey Hilfiger had five kills, while Alyvia McKimm and Topanga Allison both notched eight assists.
Cameron County (1-1) will visit Northern Potter on Monday.
Galeton 3, Smethport 0
SMETHPORT — Visiting Galeton swept Smethport in three games, 25-11, 25-20 and 25-17, in their league volleyball match on Thursday.
Leading the winners were Marika Lechler and Brielle Kalacinski with seven aces and four kills each.
Backing them were Maddie Sauley (3 kills) and Makenna Shuemaker (six assists, two aces).
For the Lady Hubbers, Emily Gustafson had six kills, two aces and three blocks, while Mattelle Neely recorded six kills and three digs and MyKayla Deyarmin with three kills, two aces, seven assists andfive5 digs.
Smethport (1-1) returns to action next Monday at Austin.
