Hannah Lary placed 18th out 194 runners with a time of 21:08 at the Bear Mountain River Run held at Lock Haven University on Saturday. The Lady Owls placed 17th out of 23 schools at the event.
“Hannah ran a great race,” Bradford coach Mark Kelley said. “She went out a little conservative in the first mile and then steadily moved up. She was about 25th at the first mile and 21st with 800m to go. She has picked up where she left off last year running a personal best time in the first meet of the year. This time gave her the ninth fastest time for the sophomore class.” Bethany Bednez was 36th in 21:58.
“Bethany ran a great race. This was one of her best races and a good way to kick off the season. She fought hard in the last two miles to stay in the top part of the race.”
Alex Safran was 135th in 26:02, Bri Keller was 144th in 26:49 and Haleigh Reid was 169th in 28:57.
“It was a good day to get a race in for all of the girls. The weather was very cool and the course was well-maintained. We now have a starting point and have something to built on.”
The Lady Owls junior high team placed fifth out of 12 schools led by medalists Korie Dixon (11th) in 13:00 and Aubrey Cruz (18th) in 13:35) on the 1.86 mile course.
“This was a very good start for our junior high team. This was the first race for nine of the girls and they all ran great.”
Elisa Hayden was 28th in 14:00, Leila Bines was 35th in 14:19, Kali O’Neill was 72nd in 15:50, Sophie Cornelius was 75th in 16:07, Mallory Whitlow was 80th in 16:22, Treyna Allen was 81st in 16:23, Keira Cleveland was 110th in 18:10, Brynn Haviland was 111th in 18:13, and Kaylee Dennison 124th in 21:12.
