Bradford 9, Coudersport 0
Colton Swanson scored four goals, Cadyn Sutherland (assist) had two markers, and Ian Grady (assist), Owen Kane (assist) and Matthew Franz added solo tallies to propel Bradford to a 9-0 victory over Coudersport in its opener.
Brennan Grady logged two assists, and Owls goalkeeper Evan Schmidt stopped two shots.
“It ended up being a little bit hotter. We have a lot of kids, and the depth was definitely a benefit today,” Bradford coach Wes Lohrman said. “We have 16, 17 kids who could all be starting, and there was no drop-off when our players came on.
“We’re happy with our start, but we have a lot of work ahead of us. We have our first district match (Tuesday) against DuBois, who has been the team that’s knocked us out of the playoffs the last two years. It’s going to be a good barometer for us.”
Coudersport fell to 0-1.
Port Allegany 2, Portville 0
ALLEGANY, N.Y. — After a scoreless first half, AJ Edgell scored on a penalty kick, and Shawn McNeil finished a pass from Simon Burleson to lift Port Allegany in the consolation game.
Brandon Peterson (four saves) earned his first career shutout for the Gators (1-1). Cody Perkins made seven saves for Portville (1-2).
“We played yesterday against Olean and kind of controlled play for practically the entire game and played really well,” Port coach Aaron Clark said. “We kind of did the same thing today — we controlled the ball, possessed well for more than half the game and did a good job keeping it away. We did a poor job of finishing. We didn’t get enough quality shots. We should’ve been able to put it away sooner than we did, but we played well defensively.”
Northern Potter 7, Sayre 3
GALETON — Foster Kosa (assist) scored twice, and Dakota Perkins, Ryan Langworthy, Carter Anderson, Ezra Sprow (assist) and Tre Slawson (assist) had one marker each to pace Northern Potter in the consolation game.
Holden Cowburn and Patrick Lehman had two saves each for the Panthers (1-1).
