EMPORIUM — For the first time since head coach Judy Abbey can remember, the Bradford girls golf team dropped a regular season match.
The Lady Owls fell to Cameron County by one stroke, 28-27, on Monday at Emporium Country Club. Bradford fell despite a pair of great rounds from Elyse Godding (who shot 39) and Kate Huber (41).
“Where can you go when your top two players shoot (39 and 41) and you get beat,” Abbey said. “It was very hot and muggy; the conditions were a little tough because of the humidity, but those two knocked it out of the world. I’m very proud of them.”
Also scoring for Bradford were Sadie Oliver (60), Adrienne Angell (63), and Emily Keltz (64).
Alyvia McKimm led Cameron County with a 47. Joining her were Kamme Guisto (54), Elyse Spehalski (55), Emily Richnafsky (60), and Ally Narby (63).
While obviously disappointed that Bradford’s lengthy winning streak came to an end, Abbey is confident she and her team can put this loss behind them.
“They broke our streak, but we’ll just start a new one,” she said.
Bradford is off until next Thursday when the Lady Owls will play at the Coudersport Invitational.
