SMETHPORT — A Kane man pleaded guilty Thursday in McKean County Court in a case of home improvement fraud.
Brandyn P. Bynum, 34, entered the plea to a charge of receiving advance payment for services and failing to perform. Between Aug. 22 and Oct. 1, 2016, Bynum accepted two checks worth a total of $7,000 in exchange for completing home improvements that he had no intention of completing, said Assistant District Attorney Jerry Grill. Bynum will be sentenced Sept. 13.
Also in court, Jonathan W. Colts, 33, of Bradford, pleaded guilty to charges in two cases. He’s charged in one case with forgery and in the second with flight to avoid apprehension. According to Assistant District Attorney Ashley Shade, between March 10-30, 2017, Colts signed checks worth $695 that belonged to someone else; then, on April 6, he hid in an attic at 82 Summer St., Bradford, to avoid being apprehended by police. He will be sentenced Sept. 13.
Luke A. Wolfe, 20, of Bradford, pleaded guilty to charges of theft by unlawful taking and criminal trespassing. Shade said that on May 16, Wolfe and two co-defendants took $650 worth of items from 163 W. Corydon St., Bradford. He will be sentenced Sept. 13.
Sara M. Schwab, 37, of Limestone, N.Y., pleaded guilty to charges in two cases. She’s charged in one with corruption of minors and in the second with DUI-alcohol. Court records filed at the time of Schwab’s arrest on the corruption of minors allegations indicated that she allowed a 13-year-old girl to drive a motor vehicle. She will be sentenced Sept. 27.
Sarah J. Bickford, 67, of Smethport, pleaded guilty to charges in three cases. She is charged in two of the cases with retail theft and in the third to attempt to commit retail theft. According to Grill, on July 1, 2016, Bickford took a grocery cart with less than $150 worth of items from Save-A-Lot; on May 10, she took $162.36 worth of merchandise from Tops; and on June 5, she hid in a bag several items from Save-A-Lot, trying to steal them. She will be sentenced Sept. 13.
Darian M. Dunsing, 41, of Bradford, pleaded guilty to a summary charge of criminal trespassing. He will serve 10 to 27 days in McKean County Jail with credit for 27 days of time served.
Jacob M. Cornelius, 25, of Derrick City, was accepted into the Accelerated Rehabilitative Disposition Program for DUI-controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia; and the following people were accepted into the ARD program for DUI-alcohol: Anre M. Yohe, 51, of Bradford; Jill L. Campbell, 48, of Bradford, and Zachariah M. Abrams, 18, of Gifford.
