The Bradford YMCA’s second annual Corporate Challenge on Sept. 27 is more than just a race. The event is intended to shine the spotlight on employee wellness and team spirit.
“This year’s Corporate Challenge aims to enrich lives of our community members, promote a healthier workforce, and promote team building in a fun event for all,” local YMCA executive director Brent Raabe said.
The 5K Run and 2 Mile Walk kicks off at 5 p.m. Sept. 27 starting at Bradford’s Callahan Park pavilion with registration beginning at 4 p.m.
Teams can consist of runners and walkers, Raabe said. Officials encourage organizations, clubs and individuals to assemble teams for this event.
In 2017, the event had representation from 20-plus organizations and 300 participants, including
KOA Speer Electronics, which had a team of employees and a team with a combination of employees, family and friends, Raabe said.
“This event is for all members of the community,” he said. “We do encourage the team experience with your fellow family and friends, and come with team shirts and take part in getting your team’s photo.”
Prizes will be awarded for top male and female, top corporate and community team (male, female and co-ed), top five finishers and company and corporate team with most participation.
After the race, entertainment will be provided by Mick Marshall, Tyler Calkins and Jim Copeland, and Glenwood Distributors will have food and refreshments, Raabe said.
“I am excited for this year’s Corporate Challenge to promote community wellness and grow on the great success the event had last year,” said Natalie Marasco, community outreach coordinator. “The Y is committed to developing programs and opportunities for all members of the community.”
