FREEHOLD, N.J. — The Elk/McKean Junior League Baseball All-Stars pulled off another dramatic win on Wednesday to advance to the division’s World Series.
The All-Stars, comprised of 13 and 14 year olds from Kane, Johnsonburg, Ridgway and Wilcox, won the championship game with a 3-2 walk-off win over Delaware. The win advances Elk/McKean to the Junior League Baseball World Series as the Eastern Regional champion. The All-Stars went 4-0 in the double elimination regional, and will look to keep the winning streak going when the World Series begins on Saturday in Taylor, Michigan.
Elk/McKean will play in the tournament as USA East and faces USA West in a first round matchup on Sunday at 11 a.m. International teams from Asia-Pacific, Australia, Canada, Europe-Africa, Central America and Mexico will also be descending into Michigan on the international side of the bracket.
The kids will be back in town this evening for a meet and greet with fans and community members. The gathering is set to take place at 7 p.m. at the Johnsonburg Fire Department’s Social Hall. Donations will be welcomed.
