KANE — Three of four charges against a Kane man were bound to McKean County Court Tuesday at a preliminary hearing before District Judge David Engman.
Carl A. Wilson Jr., 65, will now face the following charges at McKean County Court: corruption of minors, a first-degree misdemeanor; indecent assault, a second-degree misdemeanor; and harassment, a summary charge. A misdemeanor charge of stalking was withdrawn, court records indicate.
According to the criminal complaint, at 6:55 a.m. March 19, in Mount Jewett, Wilson, who was then a school van driver, approached a 13-year old girl “because she seemed happy,” court records stated. He allegedly grabbed her around the waist, hugged her and kissed her on the lips.
In a subsequent interview with police, Wilson said he was standing outside his van waiting to pick up the girl’s brother for school, when he saw the girl, whom he described as “smiling and bubbly.” He asked the girl “if he could have some of that bubbly,” records stated.
It was then that he allegedly grabbed her to hug her, kissed her, then pushed her back and said he was sorry.
The girl told police she became scared when Wilson hugged and kissed her and walked quickly to her bus stop. She was afraid that he was going to kidnap her, and she took a different route home after school, the criminal complaint stated.
Wilson remains free on $10,000 unsecured bail.
