The annual Kids and Cancer Benefit Motorcycle Ride is set for this Saturday, but a chance to support the local organization will happen Friday, when a barbecue will take place at a local business.
6V Sales and Service’s Biker BBQ is set for 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at 6V, located at 170 Seaward Ave., Bradford.
A meal with beverages by CJ Bar-B-Que and Catering will be served alongside live music by Tyler Calkins and Jim Copeland, followed by tunes from DJ Mick McMillan.
Bikers who bring their motorcycles can take advantage of the bike wash, which is being held just in time to help the riders get ready for the Kids and Cancer run the next day. People can bring their cars for cleaning, too.
The Harley of Hope — a new motorcycle raffled off each year to benefit Kids and Cancer — will be on display at 6V Sales and Service on Friday. Tickets can be purchased there, too, for $20 each or $50 for three.
The winner of the Harley of Hope will be drawn on Saturday at the benefit run. Second prize will be two tickets for the “Zippo 200” at Watkins Glen and $250 cash, and third prize will be a gift card to Harley Davidson of Jamestown, N.Y.
Proceeds from the event will be donated to Kids and Cancer, a non-profit organization that raises money for local families, as well as for medical facilities and organizations that research childhood cancer.
Registration for the 21st annual Kids and Cancer Benefit Run will take place from 9 a.m. to 11:45 a.m. Saturday in the Zippo-Case south parking lot on Congress Street, Bradford. A blessing of the bikes will take place at noon, then a parade of bikes will make its way through Bradford on the start of a 120-mile trip through the Allegheny National Forest.
Inaugural Pedal for Kids and Cancer bicycle runs will be part of this year’s event, and a downtown block party will be held Saturday in Veterans Square.
