MUSIC: Friday marks the start of a 16-day music festival across a region that includes Potter County, as well as Tioga County in Pennsylvania and Steuben and Chemung counties in New York State.
The 13th annual Endless Mountain Music Festival will kick off at 7:30 p.m. Friday in the Steadman Theater, Mansfield University, Tioga County, with a performance of the Festival Symphony Orchestra. The orchestra will perform selections from several popular films while film clips are projected on two movie screens.
That is the first of 16 continuous nights of live music in the region.
The festival will make its way to Potter County on July 29, when the Festival Brass Quintet will play at 7:30 p.m. in the Night Sky Viewing Area at Cherry Springs State Park. This performance will feature Rebecca Dodson-Webster on French horn, Thomas Cook and Luis Engelke on trumpet, Kevin Ladd on tuba, David Sciannella on trombone and Simon Bjarning on percussion.
Attendees for this free concert are invited to bring lawn chairs or blankets, as they will be watching under the night sky, if the weather allows.
Preregister for this show by visiting http://events.dcnr.pa.gov/cherry_springs_state_park/calendar, calling 435-1037 or emailing cherryspringsee@pa.gov.
