Charges against a Port Allegany woman accused of setting fire a rental home in March had her charges bound to McKean County Court on Monday.
Mindy L. Logue, 58, appeared for a preliminary hearing Monday before District Judge William Todd for charges of arson-danger of bodily injury, a first-degree felony; arson-endangering property, a second-degree felony; two counts of reckless burning or exploding and one count of criminal mischief, all third-degree felonies; and recklessly endangering another person, a second-degree misdemeanor.
According to the criminal complaint, on March 6, Logue started a fire in a rental unit that she had lived in for about seven years and was in the process of moving out of. She allegedly ignited paper with a lighter next to the couch.
Court records stated that on June 1 during an interview at the Kane state police barracks, Logue admitted to starting the fire by igniting paper with a lighter next to the couch.
No one else was home at the time of the blaze.
At 12:20 p.m. March 6, a passerby reported the fire in the structure, which was a two-story wood-frame home at 240 N. Brooklynside Road. About 25 firefighters from the Star Hose Co. in Port Allegany responded, according to court records.
The rental property was owned by George Hults, and damage from the fire exceeded $65,000, the complaint indicated.
Logue is in McKean County Jail in lieu of $10,000 bail.
