RIDGWAY — The Allegheny National Forest is joining several other organizations as part of the Allegheny Plateau Invasive Plant Management Area to host a workshop on how to identify and report invasive plants.
The ANF will host the event from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. on Aug. 1 at the North Central Pennsylvania Regional Planning and Development Center on 49 Ridgmont Drive, Ridgway.
The free workshops will cover topics including invasive plant identification and ecology; mapping and reporting invasive plants using iMapInvasives; and information on how volunteers can join the citizen science volunteer network.
Lunch and invasive plant identification books will be provided.
APIPMA is a new cooperative with the goal of early detection and control of invasive plants in high value watersheds and upland terrestrial ecosystems in Warren, McKean, Forest, Elk, and Potter counties.
Workshop organizers include the McKean County Conservation District, Penn State Extension, the PA Department of Conservation and Natural Resources and the ANF.
