A Kane woman is in McKean County Jail after allegedly trying to break into a Kane home to retrieve items she claimed belonged to her.
Krystal L. Causer, 34, of 320 Haines St., Kane was arraigned Tuesday before District Judge William Todd on charges of attempted burglary, a first-degree felony; attempted criminal trespassing, a second-degree felony; and loitering and prowling at night time, a third-degree misdemeanor.
According to the criminal complaint, around 3 a.m. Monday, Causer tried to enter the 811 Welsh St. home of the late Kyle Cool through a back window but was unable to get inside. Later that day through Facebook, she allegedly messaged a woman she knew to say she needed help getting in and was going to try to break in again that night — even if she had to go alone.
The woman contacted Cool’s mother, Teresa Reynolds, to tell her about the Facebook message; Reynolds contacted a family member who reported to Kane Borough Police that Causer might try to break in again, according to court records.
In a subsequent interview with police, Causer said she heard Reynolds was going to throw everything in the house away, and Causer wanted to retrieve some of her belongings, the criminal complaint indicated.
Causer was jailed in lieu of $15,000 bail, and she is scheduled to appear in Central Court on July 19.
