A Portville, N.Y., man who is accused of assaulting a woman Saturday was arrested and jailed on Monday.
Terry G. Miller, 63, of 9941 Prosser Road, Portville, was arraigned before District Judge William Todd on charges of strangulation, a second-degree felony; simple assault, a second-degree misdemeanor; disorderly conduct, a third-degree misdemeanor; and summary charges of harassment and criminal mischief.
According to the criminal complaint, at 5:58 p.m. Saturday, Kane-based state police were dispatched to a domestic dispute on McCrea Brook Road, Eldred Township.
A woman told police that she had been cutting grass, when Miller allegedly showed up and started yelling at her. An argument ensued, and Miller grabbed her by her hair and throat with his right hand and squeezed, then pushed Miller off the lawnmower, the complaint stated.
Miller went to the front door and began pounding, ripping the door screen; he was gone before police arrived, court records indicated.
Miller is in McKean County Jail in lieu of $15,000 bail, and he is scheduled to appear in Central Court on July 19.
