Bradford Area Public Library is offering a program on pet care from 3 to 4 p.m. Saturday.
Dr. Brad MacNeill of the McKean County Animal Hospital will discuss various topics of pet care. This program is free and open to the public.
MacNeill has provided veterinary care in the Bradford area and the surrounding communities for over 31 years. Since 1985, McKean County Animal Hospital has been providing veterinary care for companion animals in the Bradford community.
MacNeill will discuss pet care and talk about the responsibilities of caring of our pets. He will talk about how pet owners can offer the best care for pets, everything from diet and exercise to vaccines and disease prevention. Participants will learn how to feed a pet, groom a pet, and tips on raising a healthy playful pet.
MacNeill will also discuss flea and tick season, which started earlier this year and will peak in late summer through early fall. According to a new report released by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, tick-borne illnesses are drastically increasing in Pennsylvania and across the nation. Between 2004 and 2016, there were 73,610 tick-borne disease cases in Pennsylvania, the highest of any state in the country.
