The 72nd annual Family Camp Meeting of the Bradford District Free Methodist Churches will commence at 7 p.m. Friday at the Highlander Christian Campgrounds on South Settlement Road, Kane, and will run through the night of July 13.
This year’s camp evangelist is the Rev. Jeremiah Bolich from Nashville, Tenn. Bolich will bring with him three interns who will help with tasks such as working with youth. They are students in Dr. Stephen Manley’s school of theology in Lebanon, Tenn.
The children’s program will be directed by Wendy Henry of Bradford and a teacher from the Bradford Christian Academy.
There will be activities for every age group, and the teens will canoe down the Allegany River near Brookville.
The music will be headed up by “The Flock” from Sugar Grove. They are a group of young people who have served the Sugar Grove Free Methodist Church and also has been the music team for this camp for the last five years. Meals can be taken in the camp dining hall for a modest price.
The camp director is Lenore Spaich from Kane, and the camp worship leader is Rob Brest, a former Bradford resident and son of the Rev. Bob Brest.
There is still some housing available.
The camp was moved to South Settlement Road in 1946 after a fire devastated the old campgrounds near Port Allegany.
All people are invited to come and worship and share in the activities of the camp.
Anyone with questions can telephone the Rev. Bob Brest at 362-4509 or 368-7381.
