The beating sun was no match for the beats of the Twin Tiers Community Band, as Crook Farm’s Independence Day celebration was met with a large turnout that braved the relentless heat.
Lead by Diane Smith, the band played both popular and patriotic songs in celebration of the holiday.
“It’s a nice effort on the Landmark (Society)’s part to support the band and to encourage patriotism all over the place,” said Bradford Landmark Society President Harrijane Moore. “This is the third annual performance for the Fourth of July. There is a large number of people, and the ironic part is that people come from all over, not just Bradford, Smethport, Port Allegany; and some, of course, are from New York State. It’s wonderful how they are all so willing to join forces and provide so much wonderful entertainment for people.”
Moore said the band travels and performs at various venues. She also acknowledged that those who came out given the brutal heat showed a strong sense of patriotism.
“We need more and more patriotism. That’s the name of the game,” she said.
Moore added that the band’s music is wanted, needed and enjoyed.
