PICKERS: “American Pickers” are coming to Pennsylvania.
And the History channel show’s crew is asking Pennsylvanians to show them unique, historically significant items to feature: “a large, private collection or accumulation of antiques that the Pickers can spend the better part of the day looking through.”
With Bradford’s unique history — the area’s connection to the aircraft industry, oil industry and Zippo/Case come immediately to mind — we’re sure there’s some hidden corner filled with rare treasures waiting to be brought to light.
The show’s antique pickers, Mike Wolfe and Frank Fritz, “have seen a lot of rusty gold over the years and are always looking to discover something they’ve never seen before,” according to a press release. “They are ready to find extraordinary items and hear fascinating tales about them.”
They will be filming episodes of “American Pickers” in Pennsylvania in August.
If you’re interested send your name, phone number, location, description of the collection and photos to americanpickers@cineflix.com, or call 855-OLD-RUST.
For those who haven’t seen the show, the press release describes it this way: “‘American Pickers’ is a documentary series that explores the fascinating world of antique ‘picking’ on History. The hit show follows Mike and Frank, two of the most skilled pickers in the business, as they hunt for America’s most valuable antiques.”
The History channel show airs at 9 p.m. Mondays.
CORVETTE: Though Flint, Mich., made an unfortunate name for itself in recent years with its contaminated water, there’s more to the city’s history than that.
According to the Associated Press, 65 years ago, “On June 30, 1953, the first Chevrolet Corvette, with its innovative fiberglass body, was built at a General Motors assembly facility in Flint, Michigan.”
