The McKean County Drug Task Force arrested two people on Tuesday, one for allegedly purchasing ingredients for methamphetamine and the other for her alleged role in a crack cocaine sale.
Jonathan M. Burford, 32, of Smethport, and Laura J. Dennison-Haight, 49, of Bradford, were arraigned Tuesday, District Attorney Stephanie Vettenburg-Shaffer reported.
According to Shaffer, between March 31, 2017, and Jan. 24, 2018, Burford purchased ingredients for meth 10 times.
He was arraigned before District Judge David Engman on 10 counts of possessing precursors with the intent to manufacture methamphetamine, all felonies. Bail was set at $25,000, she said.
Meanwhile, Haight was arraigned before District Judge Richard Luther on charges of conspiracy to deliver a controlled substance, a felony, and two counts of possession of drug paraphernalia, both misdemeanors. Bail was set at $35,000, according to Shaffer.
According to the criminal complaint in Haight’s case, on Oct. 20, 2017, at 17 Homestead Ave. — Haight’s home — the McKean County Drug Task Force conducted a controlled purchase of crack cocaine from Dwayne Higgs, who was immediately arrested following the sale.
Police then executed a search warrant at the 17 Homestead Ave. residence and found drug paraphernalia related to cocaine and marijuana use, court records stated.
In a subsequent interview with Haight, she admitted that she allowed Higgs into her 17 Homestead Ave. home so he could sell crack cocaine from there, the complaint indicated. He allegedly provided crack cocaine to Higgs in exchange for letting him use the home to make the Oct. 20 sale.
Higgs pleaded guilty Jan. 11 to allegations he delivered about one gram of crack cocaine on Oct. 20, and he was sentenced Jan. 18 to a term in state prison.
Burford and Haight are both scheduled to appear in Central Court on July 5.
