A Hazleton man was arraigned Thursday on 117 felony counts relating to theft from a Bradford business.
Julio Massas, 39, of 19 East 5th St., is charged with 37 counts each of unauthorized use of an access device, theft and receiving stolen property; and 10 counts of theft by deception, all third-degree felonies.
In January, Bradford City Police were called to Seneca Distribution on Chestnut Street Extension for a report of an employee who fraudulently used a company credit card for a total amount of $12,918.15. The store’s owner told police Massas had been hired to work out of the company’s Hazleton location for vehicle repairs and was given a company credit card, approved for use only in buying parts for company vehicles, court records stated.
Massas was to turn receipts in to the Bradford store. When he hadn’t, the owner began looking into purchases made with the card. She found multiple transactions unrelated to business expenses, including a fake business that Massas created, the records stated.
Massas was arraigned before District Judge Dom Cercone and released on $20,000 unsecured bail. He is scheduled to appear in Central Court on June 21.
