Changes are coming to Emmaus Road, which is a joint outreach ministry of the First Wesleyan Church of Bradford and the McCrea Brook Church of Eldred.
The group behind Emmaus Road, located at 16 Congress St., will move its Friday night get-together to 7 p.m. Thursday night starting today.
Emmaus Road is an alternative worship service set in a coffee house that is designed to be a modern alternative to a regular Sunday morning church service. The worship service is for people who can’t make it to church on Sunday morning but still want to attend a weekly service. Emmaus Road is also for those individuals who are looking to explore their faith but are not into going to a church on Sunday morning.
The Rev. Terri Niver of the First Wesleyan Church of Bradford and Dale Argot of the McCrea Brook Church in Eldred along with their staff of volunteers have been running Emmaus Road for the past year and a half. They have seen growth at Emmaus Road since the start of the joint outreach ministry.
According to service organizers, a recent Harvard University study published this year determined that Christianity is growing stronger, despite what the mainstream media is reporting. Many people are going back to church because of the anxiety they feel given the state of current events going on in the world and right here in the United States, organizers stated.
The group at Emmaus Road invites members of the community to attend their Thursday night get-together, especially people who need help with problems in their lives. Emmaus Road also holds a Wednesday night teen experience from 6:30 to 8 p.m. and several holiday and special events throughout the year. All are invited to attend Emmaus Road and take in the relaxed atmosphere with coffee, desserts and music.
