GALETON — The Bureau of Forestry is in the process of revising the Susquehannock State Forest Resource Management Plan, and will host a public meeting from 1 to 3:30 p.m. Saturday at the Pennsylvania Lumber Museum.
A district-level plan is written for each of the Bureau’s 20 forest districts across Pennsylvania. The plans provided an overview of district resources and priorities for how each district’s state forest land is managed. The Susquehannock plan serves two main functions –– to provide a framework for bureau staff to take on its work and make management decisions and to communicate to stakeholders, Pennsylvania citizens, who are the owners of the state forest system.
The bureau wishes to collect public input on a draft version of the Susquehannock plan, as part of the revision process.
The bureau will also post the Susquehannock plan draft on the district webpage. Comments can be heard at the meeting, online or mail. Comments will be accepted until two months after the public meeting. The meeting provides access for the public to learn more about their local state forest and to provide their input on how it should be managed.
Questions or comments about the public meeting or Susquehannock plan can be directed to the district office at fd15@pa.gov or 274-3600.
