A Duke Center man is in McKean County Jail, charged with stealing a gun out of a car in Port Allegany and selling it to another person.
Seth Hanes, 20, is facing 33 felony counts, two misdemeanors and 15 summary offenses relating to theft, firearms and disorderly conduct.
According to court records, between May 20 and Thursday, Hanes and others, whom police didn’t name, broke into numerous vehicles in Port Allegany and stole items from the vehicles. One of the items taken from a vehicle on Arnold Avenue was a .9 mm handgun., which Hanes sold to another person for $200, the records stated.
Not only was the gun stolen and sold, but Hanes was prohibited from having it because of prior charges, the complaint stated.
Hanes was arraigned Thursday night before oncall District Judge Rich Luther and remanded to jail in lieu of $50,000. He is scheduled to appear in Central Court on Thursday.
