A Limestone, N.Y., man was incarcerated on allegations that he was harassing police officers who were arresting him for alleged acts of public drunkenness and disorderly conduct.
Adam D. Weaver, 26, is charged with aggravated harassment by a prisoner, a third-degree felony; disorderly conduct, a third-degree misdemeanor; and summary public drunkenness.
According to the criminal complaint, at 6:50 p.m. Friday, Bradford City police officers were dispatched to South Avenue and West Corydon Street for a report of an intoxicated male — later identified as Weaver — who was jumping in and out of traffic.
As officers were en route, McKean County Control further advised that the male was on West Corydon Street and had fallen several times. When police arrived, they saw Weaver standing on the sidewalk and shoving a woman, the complaint stated.
As officers approached him in their vehicles, Weaver flipped them off and screamed obscenities. Sgt. Butch Bartlett got out of his cruiser, took Weaver to the ground and handcuffed him, observing that Weaver smelled like alcohol. Before police got Weaver in the back of a cruiser, Weaver told them to “take off the cuffs” or he would assault them, the complaint stated.
Later, while Weaver was in the holding cell in the Bradford City Police Station, he spit on Officer Seth Shepard, according to the complaint.
Weaver was arraigned Friday night before District Judge Richard Luther and incarcerated in McKean County Jail in lieu of $50,000 bail. He is scheduled to appear in Central Court on Thursday.
