A Bradford man is in McKean County Jail on allegations that he broke into a woman’s apartment and threw some of her belongings outside.
Jonathan M. Ard, 31, was arraigned Friday night before District Judge Richard Luther on charges of burglary, a first-degree felony; two counts of criminal trespassing, one a second-degree felony and the other a third-degree felony; and criminal mischief, a summary charge.
The criminal complaint states that on May 20, Bradford City Police were dispatched to 32 Petrolia St. for a report that some of Molly Jo Taylor’s belongings had been thrown into a yard in front of the residence.
Police had been to the residence earlier in the day for an alleged fight between Ard and a friend of Taylor’s. When police had asked Ard if he wanted to pursue charges in the alleged fight, he told them he would “take care of it,” the complaint stated.
According to the complaint, Taylor, a tenant in the upstairs apartment, came home to find her door had been kicked in and was damaged, and her mattress and other items of hers were in the yard. When an officer asked Ard about it, he said he left the apartment after the fight and returned to see the items in the yard, according to the complaint.
On May 31, two neighbors told police they saw Ard and his girlfriend go up the stairs to Taylor’s apartment; there were some loud noises, then the neighbors could see through a window that they entered the apartment, the complaint stated. Ard then allegedly made multiple trips from Taylor’s apartment, throwing items such as a mattress and bed frame, into the yard.
Ard is incarcerated in lieu of $50,000 bail, and he is scheduled to appear in Central Court on Thursday.
