OIL METROPOLIS: Larry Fay of Anchorage, Alaska, hopes to see Bradford become an oil producing giant like it was in prior decades.
He found a company that he believes could make that happen.
Larry has been reading about enhanced oil recovery technology — processes to help oil producers get a higher percentage of oil out of an oil field. In particular, he read about technology used by Titan Oil Recovery Inc., which injects a well with nutrients for microbes living there. The process is supposed to help the trapped oil flow more freely.
“I do believe it has great potential for the Bradford area oil fields,” Larry said.
If the the EOR process works as well as it says, Larry is hopeful that “Bradford, like the Phoenix, may rise again to be a major player in the oil patch.”
We know locals would love to see a boost in the area’s economy.
Larry sent wishes that Bradford’s winter was finally over.
“Whenever Alaska has a mild winter, Pennsylvania and the Lower 48 in general have a rough winter,” he noted.
This year’s winter definitely did not feel like it was going to end. But no matter how long or rough the winter, spring has always come to Bradford!
CHESS AT SEA: When you think of the high seas, a cutthroat game of chess probably isn’t the first thing that comes to mind.
But one Bradford man known for skill in the game could recently be found aboard the Norwegian Bliss competing in the “A Chess Tournament at Sea.”
Local attorney Gregory Henry played in the tournament from May 11-23, traveling from Miami, Fla., through the Panama Canal to Los Angeles, and also making stops in the Republic of Costa Rica and Guatemala.
“Greg was tied for first going into the last round and had an excellent game but lost on time,” Dr. Robert Ferguson said when he contacted us about Greg’s trip.
While he didn’t return home with the title of “Panama Canal Champion,” an article about the event that Robert shared stated, “The American Gregory Henry maintained a superior position and most kibitzers expected a quick victory.”
