SMETHPORT — A Bradford man was sentenced Thursday in McKean County Court to a term in state prison for a firearms allegation and allegations he drove a vehicle without permission.
Joseph R. McBride, 42, will serve five to 10 years in prison with credit for 111 days of time served. He is charged in one case with possession of a firearm prohibited and receiving stolen property, and in the second with unauthorized use of a motor vehicle, accident involving damage to an attended vehicle and a summary charge.
On May 24, he pleaded guilty to allegations that on Feb. 9 in Bradford City, McBride, who is not allowed to possess firearms due to a prior drug conviction, possessed one; it was unloaded and had no ammunition. Also, on Jan. 8, McBride, while operating a vehicle without consent from the owner or with a valid license, drove through a fence, hitting a home at 78 State St., Bradford, and hitting another vehicle; he failed to stay at the scene.
Also in court, Kody M. Mountain, 21, of Bradford, was sentenced to nine to 18 months in McKean County Jail with credit for 109 days for a charge of criminal conspiracy to commit theft by unlawful taking. Mountain pleaded guilty May 10 to allegations that on Feb. 6 he conspired with Jacob Miller to steal a firearm.
Seth Anderson, 23, of Kane, will serve five years in the Intermediate Punishment Program for charges of DUI-alcohol and summary charges. He was also ordered to pay $4,200 in restitution for damage caused during a related motor vehicle accident.
Bonnie L. Eschrich, 37, of Kane, will serve three days to one year in McKean County Jail as well as one year of probation for charges of forgery and tampering with records. On May 10, Eschrich pleaded guilty to allegations that on June 27, she forged a prescription and falsified writing with the intent to deceive.
Shane W. Kroah, 18, of Bradford, will serve two days to 15 months in McKean County Jail for a charge of terroristic threats. Kroah pleaded guilty May 10 to allegations that on Feb. 28, he sent a message through Facebook messenger to a juvenile male saying he was going to kill the juvenile; he also sent an emoji of a gun.
Michael C. Cagney, 26, of Silver Creek, N.Y., will serve 18 months of probation for a charge of access device fraud. Cagney pleaded guilty May 10 to allegations that between Sept. 11 and Oct. 20, he used his grandmother’s Discover credit card to make $1,973.43 in purchases at several locations.
Cristy D. Curtis, 39, of Bradford, will serve one year of probation and pay $1,275 in restitution for charges of retail theft and criminal mischief. On May 10, Curtis pleaded guilty to allegations that on Jan. 10 she took $475 in merchandise from the Washington Street Outlet, and she tampered with a glass display case there, causing $800 in damage.
Ken M. Nierenberger, 29, will serve 10 to 180 days in McKean County Jail with credit for 90 days of time served and 17 months of probation for a charge of criminal trespassing. Nierenberger pleaded guilty Oct. 26 to allegations that on Aug. 1 he entered a private garage in Bradford; a child in a nearby house saw the man and went to the father, who confronted Nierenberger.
Kevin G. Austin, 55, of Bradford, will serve one to two years in state prison for charges of DUI-alcohol, resisting arrest and summary charges.
Christopher J. McFall, 35, of Port Allegany, will serve 60 days to two years in McKean County Jail for a charge of DUI-general impairment and a summary charge.
Terry E. Sorensen, 41, of Bradford, pleaded guilty to a charge of retail theft and a summary charge. Assistant District Attorney Jerry Grill said that on Dec. 23, Sorensen took two prepaid phones, a screen protector and a phone case worth $166.70 from Walmart — even after being told in 2014 that he was not allowed to be there. He will be sentenced June 28.
Ryan P. Dickinson, 19, of Bradford, will serve six months in the Intermediate Punishment Program and one year of probation to be served concurrent to — or at the same time as — the IP term.
Marissa M. Smith, 19, of Bradford, will serve six months in the Intermediate Punishment Program for charges of driving under the influence of alcohol and summary charges.
