A Shinglehouse man was arraigned Wednesday afternoon before District Judge Kari McCleaft on involuntary manslaughter and drug charges.
Oakley Zeddy Mulkin, 25, was committed to Potter County Jail in lieu of $50,000 bail on charges of involuntary manslaughter, a first-degree misdemeanor; possession of a designer drug, a felony; and criminal use of a communication facility, the online case docket states.
The identity of the alleged victim in the case was not available to The Era as of press time Wednesday.
Mulkin was charged in a similar case in 2017, but the district attorney’s office filed a motion in February to have the previous case withdrawn without prejudice, which was granted in March.
In the previous case, Mulkin was charged with drug delivery resulting in death and other drug charges for allegations that between May 11-12, 2016, in Sharon Township, he delivered a controlled substance to Jordan Whitsell, 28, of Shinglehouse.
Whitsell died of a drug overdose on May 12, 2016.
Before charges in Whitsell’s death were withdrawn, the case had been on the trial list.
The new case, which was filed April 25, stem from allegations that also occurred May 11, 2016, in Sharon Township, the online docket indicates. Coudersport-based state police filed the charges, and a preliminary hearing is set for 1 p.m. June 12.
No attorney is listed for Whitsell.
He was recently incarcerated in the State Correctional Institution at Rockview after pleading guilty in 2016 in Potter County Court to drug delivery allegations in two cases.
District Attorney Andy Watson declined to comment, and a criminal complaint for the new case was not available on Wednesday.
