FLIGHT: If you haven’t been keeping up with the pair of peregrine falcons that reside on the Rachel Carson State Office Building in Harrisburg, state officials announced a feat from the long weekend.
At 11:30 a.m. Memorial Day, one of the two male fledglings, named “Yellow,” attempted his first flight.
“This year’s young falcons seem to have a thing about holidays,” reported the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection, which noted that the bird hatched on Earth Day.
“Yellow” was the first of the four falcons to fly, but the agency anticipates the other male bird, “White,” to try any time now.

WHITE ALBUM: It was 50 years ago today that work started on an iconic album.
“In 1968, the Beatles began recording their ‘White Album’ at EMI Recording Studios in London, starting with the original version of ‘Revolution 1,’” the Associated Press states.
Business Insider, using information from the Recording Industry Association of America, reported in January that the album is the 10th best-selling album of all time. About 19 million copies have sold in five decades.
