SMETHPORT (EC) — Matt Windsor, American Legion Western Section Membership Chairman, will speak at the Ludlow Memorial Day Service at the Gibbs Hill Cemetery at 11:30 a.m. Monday.
McKean-Cameron Bi-County American Legion Commander Bill Blauser will offer the welcome.
Jonathan Bires, member of Ludlow American Legion Post #569 and the town’s fire chief, is to conduct the flag raising ceremony. Ken Holmes, post service officer/judge advocate, and Dan More will lead the reciting of the Pledge of Allegiance.
Post Chaplain Mike Bish will offer the invocation and benediction.
At different stages throughout the program, group director Georgi Rice will lead the audience in the singing of “The Star-Spangled Banner,” “God Bless America” and “The Battle Hymn of the Republic.”
Those veterans who have passed away during the last year, Dean Walters, James Connelly II, Edward Kisko and Donald Donafrio, will be remembered as Holmes conducts the Roll Call of Last Year’s Departed Veterans. The Sheffield/Clarendon Veterans of Foreign Wars’ Honor Guard, directed by Capt. Ken Eckstrom, is to provide the salute to the departed veterans.
“Taps” will be played.
Bill and Pam Bauser are in charge of the programs.
In case of rain, the program will be held at the Ludlow Fire Hall.
