The Pennsylvania Great Outdoors Visitors Bureau has announced it will sponsor four new photo contests, all with the goal of capturing the beauty of Cameron, Elk, Clarion, Forest and Jefferson counties.
The contests, each with a different theme, will take place over the next year, with the first starting in June.
The first has a theme of “Outdoor Adventures” and will take place between June and August. Voting will be Sept. 13-19.
“Scenic Beauty” will be in September through November, with voting Dec. 13-19. “Winter Fun” will be in December through February, with voting March 14-20. Finally, “Captivating Critters” will be in March-May 2019, with voting June 13-19, 2019.
First place winners in each contest will receive $100; second place, $75; third place, $50; and fourth place, $25.
Complete the entry form and upload photos at VisitPAGO.com/contest. Finalists’ photos will be posted to the Pennsylvania Great Outdoors Visitors Bureau website, so people can view them right from home.
PENN’S WOODS: The Center for Private Forests at Penn State also invites people to get outside and enjoy the state’s wilderness.
The organization announced that it will hold its second annual Walk in Penn’s Woods on Oct. 7.
The inaugural walk in 2017 inspired people across Pennsylvania to plan strolls for people to enjoy the autumn weather. This included seven held in Cameron, Elk, McKean and Potter counties, as well as others in surrounding counties.
A press release from the center describes the upcoming event so: “Rural, urban and suburban woods, state and national forests, parks, and gamelands, municipal watersheds, conserved areas, and private and industry lands in the state’s 67 counties will hold guided walks in the woods showcasing the multiple values and diverse uses of our state’s woodland resources.”
