A Bradford woman is facing criminal charges after allegedly selling food she bought with someone else’s Pennsylvania Electronic Benefits Transfer (EBT) card.
Merry B. Reynolds, 49, of Bradford, was arraigned Monday before District Judge Richard Luther on two counts of buying/exchanging federal food stamps and one count each of access device fraud, fraudulent traffic in food orders, conspiracy to commit access device fraud and conspiracy to commit fraudulent traffic in food orders, all first-degree misdemeanors; and theft by unlawful taking, a second-degree misdemeanor.
According to court records, at 5:44 p.m. Aug. 8, Reynolds used the SNAP benefits on an EBT card that she stole from a former roommate to purchase $194 in groceries at Walmart. An adult female then allegedly gave Reynolds $100 cash in exchange for the groceries.
The other female was not named in the criminal complaint, and it was unclear at press time whether anyone else will be charged in the alleged incident.
Reynolds is free on $5,000 unsecured bail, and she is scheduled to appear in Central Court on May 31.
