KANE — Despite one of their better efforts of the year, the Lady Owls fell to Kane 11-1 in five innings to conclude their 2018 season.
Ella Marconi blasted a three-run homer as part of a 10-run third inning for the Wolves. Rachael Haight had a game-high four hits, and Kennedy Himes drove in three runs.
Rachel Danielson and K. Alexander combined to throw a gem in the circle for Kane (7-8), allowing just one run on two hits and four strikeouts.
Katie Skok had the Owls’ lone RBI of the game. The loss sent Bradford to 0-18 on the season.
“Tonight wasn’t the game I was hoping for, but we showed so much progress this season,” Bradford head coach Jennifer Snow said. “We had so many new players this year.”
“We started the season not knowing how to run the bases, field a ball, and in some cases hit. Our record doesn’t show all the hard work the girls put in. We have something to start with next year.”
Smethport 16, Northern Potter 0, 3 innings
SMETHPORT — Emily Treat no-hit the Panthers and Smethport got plenty of offense to dispatch Northern Potter in game one of a three-team doubleheader.
Abbey Woodard powered the Hubber offense with a double and a home run in the second inning.
Hailey Wright and Kia Orner added two hits each for the Hubbers.
“We were hitting up and down the lineup in this one,” Smethport head coach Jon Peterson said. “It was real good to see.”
Alyssa Hoops went all three innings for the Panthers, giving up 12 hits and two walks.
Northern Potter finished the season at 1-18.
Smethport 12, Galeton 3
SMETHPORT — The Hubbers took game two of Friday’s doubleheader with another impressive display of offensive power.
Woodard added another double and home run in the nightcap. She finished with five hits over the two games.
Samantha Tanner added two RBI, and Treat, Heidi Lent and Orner each also had two hits.
Treat pitched another solid game in the circle got the Hubbers.
Treat went all seven innings, allowing the three runs on seven hits and three walks while striking out three.
Regan Fuller also went the distance for Galeton, and Makaya Shadle led the Tiger bats with two hits. Galeton finished the season at 8-8.
Smethport (15-2), was already locked into the second seed in the Class A playoffs, and will face AC Valley next Wednesday.
“Our bats came through in both games tonight,” Peterson said. “We won the league this year and I’m very proud of the girls.
