PORT ALLEGANY — A balanced attack and offense and a nice start from Sawyer Drummond were enough to lift Otto-Eldred past Port Allegany 5-2 in Wednesday’s high school baseball contest.
Drummond struck out 12 Port A batters in six innings of work to get the ‘W’ for Otto-Eldred (7-9).
Jake Merry was the catalyst at the plate, going 3-for-3 with an RBI. Drummond, Andrew Sheeler, and Cole Sebastian also had base hits for Otto.
For Port Allegany (5-11), David Talkington went six-plus innings, striking out eight and allowing four walks.
Josh Rees had two base hits while David Talkington and Montgomery Tanner had the Gators’ two RBI.
Port A was able to load the bases in the bottom of the sixth but couldn’t close the gap, as the Terrors would add a pair of insurance runs in the seventh.
“Unfortunately it was a rough way for our seniors to go out,” Port Allegany coach Nate Zitnik said. “Otto came in and played well tonight. I hope they get an opportunity to play in the playoffs.”

SHINGLEHOUSE — The Green Wave had six players tally at least two hits as Oswayo Valley easily handed the Hubbers on Wednesday afternoon.

Coudersport 8, Cameron County 1
COUDERSPORT — The Falcons ended their regular season with a solid performance on both sides of the ball to top Cameron County.
The trio of Blake Burgett, Kolby VanWhy and Elliott Hite combined to allow just just three hits and one run while striking out 10 batters.
The pitching was supported by a quartet of Falcons with two-hit games: Josh Stevens, HIte, Jackson Glover and Burgett. Hite had a game-high two RBI.
Coudersport (12-3) was also able to capitalize on six Cameron County errors in the game.
“We were able to take advantage of some of those errors and also compounded them with timely hitting,” Coudersport head coach Doug McClintic said. “We took advantage of having guys on base and executing well when they were out there.”
The game also marked the end of the season for the Red Raiders, which finished with a mark of 6-10.

Elk Catholic 4, Brockway 3
ST. MARYS — Brennen Klawuhn’s walk with the bases loaded in the sixth inning proved to be the difference as Elk Catholic completed a comeback victory over Brockway.
The Rovers (6-12) had a 3-2 lead entering that inning, but ECC pushed across runs on both Klawuhn’s walk and a hit by pitch to take the lead.
Taylor Boland started the game for the Crusaders, throwing five strong innings and allowing just two runs on four hits and eight strikeouts.
Wehler came in and tossed two innings of relief, allowing a run on a fielding error. All three of Brockway’s runs in the game were unearned.
Alec Wehler and Dan Wimer had two hits and an RBI each to power the Crusader offense.
ECC (8-11) closes out its regular season this afternoon against St. Marys.
