ST. MARYS — The Crusaders no-hit Bradford and got plenty of offense in a 15-0, three inning win on Friday.
Michelle Gerber didn’t allow any baserunners over those three innings, and struck out three Owls.
Jenna Weisner hit a solo home run as part of an 11-run second inning that opened up the game for ECC (9-7). Sady ValAlstine and Maddie Taylor were the only Crusaders with multi-hit games. Josie Smith had four RBI despite not registering a hit in the game.
The Lady Owls committed four errors in the game.
Despite another tough loss, Bradford (0-15) head coach Jennifer Snow is seeing progress in her girls.
“We have made so much progress since the beginning of the year,” she said. “We started the season working on basic softball skills. I know our record doesn’t reflect our growth but I see it and I keep trying to remind the girls to be positive and play hard.”
Cameron County 8, Galeton 0
EMPORIUM — Laila Smith spun another gem on the mound and Cameron County got plenty of offensive contributions to top Galeton.
Smith went all seven innings, striking out four batters along the way and allowing just three hits. Smith also added two hits and two RBI at the plate.
After three big flies last game, Cameron County’s (8-6) offense remained red-hot with two home runs on Friday.
Ashlea Burgett had a three-run blast in the third inning, and Amily Schatz homered in the second straight game with a solo shot in the fifth.
In all, Cam County had six extra-base hits in the game.
Friday’s win avenged a 3-2 beating at the hands of Galeton (6-5) in April.
The Red Raiders return to the field Monday against Otto-Eldred.
Port Allegany 19, Oswayo Valley 4, 4 innings
PORT ALLEGANY — Hannah Lathrop had a three-run homer and finished with four RBI to lead Port A to a convincing victory over The Green Wave.
In addition to Lathrop’s four-bagger in the first inning, Makenzie Burr added a two-run home run of her own and Jenna Sprankle had an inside-the-park home run.
Autumn Freer also added a three-run triple as part of Port A’s (6-7) 15 hits in the game
“The girls just came out and played good defense and added a really solid night at the plate,” Port A head coach Will Daniels said.
Burr had a solid outing on the mound for the Gators, striking out five and giving up seven hits to pick up the win.
Karina West took the loss on the mound for Oswayo Valley (3-10). Mary West went 2-for-3 with a RBI.
