A Bradford man has been jailed for allegedly choking his girlfriend until she lost consciousness after “throwing her around” on the deck of their home.
Steven Brooks, 53, of 282 South Ave., is charged with strangulation, a second-degree felony; two counts of simple assault, second-degree misdemeanors; and disorderly conduct, a summary.
According to court records, in the early morning hours Friday, a female victim went to the Bradford City Police station to report that Brooks had assaulted her at their home. She said the couple were outside on the second-floor deck at their home when he “just snapped,” and began “throwing her around,” hitting her head. As she was on the floor, he choked her until she couldn’t breath and passed out, the records stated.
Brooks was arraigned before District Judge Dom Cercone Friday afternoon and remanded to McKean County Jail on $25,000 bail. He is scheduled to appear in Central Court May 17.
