ST. MARYS — Life and Independence for Today (LIFT) is hosting a free countywide safety awareness day from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at Elk County Catholic High School in St. Marys.
Local fire departments, police departments, ambulance services and search and rescue units will be on hand displaying and demonstrating their apparatus. Organizations will be on hand providing safety information and demonstrations on fire safety, hunter safety, animal safety, gun safety, emergency preparedness, stranger danger, D.A.R.E. and many other areas of safety. J.M. Williams will be holding an American Karate Self-Defense and Awareness clinic at 12:30 p.m. Various local agencies will be participating to promote their safety programs with information and children’s activities. There will be face painting, Bubbles the Clown will be creating balloon animals for the kids, Sparky the Fire Dog will be milling around and Bigfoot is going to make an appearance. Food and beverages will also be available throughout the day.
Safety Awareness Day will enable LIFT to promote Project Lifesaver-Elk County to the community as a whole. LIFT staff will be on hand displaying Project Lifesaver equipment, explaining the process, showing informational videos and answering any questions someone may have about enrolling a loved one in Project Lifesaver-Elk County.
