Bradford Little Theatre has announced open registration for its third annual Kids Summer Theatre Camp.
The camp is accepting 24 children going into first grade through age 17. The participants will perform in the final show of the theater’s 21st season “Stories Under The Big Top.”
For the first time the camp will not be based on a musical, and instead is a straight play so that participants will be able to focus on character building and acting.
The adorable play, which was written by Lorraine Thompson, follows a ringmaster and players in a circus full of laughter and lively storytelling as the actors perform a variety of well-known tales such as “The Billy Goats Gruff,” “The Lion and the Mouse” and “Monkey See, Monkey Do.”
This year’s camp will be directed by Jessica Ann Coder.
Registration for the “Stories Under The Big Top” camp is open to applicants on a first come, first serve basis. After the initial 24 spots are filled, remaining applicants will be put on a waiting list. All money collected will be returned if a child is waitlisted and a spot does not open up.
All registration forms are due by June 15 without exception. The form can be found on the BLT website, www.bradfordlittletheatre.org. Forms can be sent to Bradford Little Theatre, ATTN: Big Top Camp, P.O. Box 255, Bradford, PA 16701.
A separate registration form is required for each child. A deposit of $20 is due with each registration form. More than one registration form can be mailed in the same envelope and the $20 deposits can be combined into a single check.
By registering, the registrant is are committing the child to a three-week theater camp beginning on July 9. Camp will be held from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Friday. All participants are expected to attend the camp every day as well as bring a bagged lunch.
On July 27-28, children will need to arrive at 5 p.m. for a 7 p.m. show; on July 29, children will need to arrive at noon for a 2 p.m. show.
From 4 to 6 p.m. June 24, an “Orientation/Casting Day” will be held that both the child and parent/guardian need to attend. Parents/guardians will receive a list of all the materials needed for camp at the orientation meeting.
Registrants are also promising to pay the full camp fee of $100 for the first child and $60 for each additional child (less deposit) on Orientation/Casting Day.
Any child not paid in full by June 27 will not be cast, and the deposit will be forfeited.
Registrants will be contacted by June 20 to confirm that their children were accepted into the camp or put on the waitlist. If a child registers to participate but cannot attend the camp for any reason, registrants will be fully refunded and their children’s spot will be passed along to the next person on the waiting list, as long as that notice is received by June 15.
BLT is also looking for adults to volunteer to help with the camp. Volunteers will help watch the campers and help them with their sets and costumes.
Anyone interested in helping with the show is asked to contact Bradford Little Theatre at contact@bradfordlittletheatre.org or call Chelsea at 598-9956.
