ERIE — Erie physician Dr. Kathleen Costanzo, who grew up in Bradford, recently received April’s Everyday Hero award from the Pennsylvania Medical Society.
Costanzo, a 1986 graduate of Bradford Central Christian High School, practices at the Allegheny Health Network’s Saint Vincent Family Medicine. She is the first recipient from Erie to win the award. She was selected from a statewide pool of nominations.
She is a family medicine residency faculty physician and sports medicine physician who was described as “dedicated” by a colleague. Nominated by Dr. Timothy Pelkowski, Costanzo was described as a physician who “will routinely go above and beyond the call of duty to help the patients she is treating and the family medicine residents she is educating.”
Costanzo, a cancer survivor, will assume the role of director of the Osteopathic Focus Track at the St. Vincent Residency Program in July.
She was formally presented the award by Pennsylvania Medical Society April 25.
