In observance of the National Day of Prayer, “Prayer in the Square” will be held at noon Thursday at Veterans Square.
The event is open to all and is planned to be a 30 to 45 minute service.
The Bradford Area Ministerium and Destinations-Bradford sponsor this event to honor the National Day of Prayer, an annual observance held on the first Thursday of May, inviting people to pray for the nation.
The Bradford Area Ministerium and Destinations-Bradford have been sponsoring this event for six years in hopes that the community can “come together as one body to pray for our nation, schools, governments, communities, and other entities that are helpful in maintaining stability where we live, such as; police, fire and ambulance, 911 operators, etc.”
Hosting this years Prayer in the Square service will be Rev. Robert Jeffrey, of Alliance Church.
“The event is a rallying cry for churches to be in prayer for ourselves, our community and our nation,” said Jeffrey.
Along with Jeffrey, many other clergy members will be in attendance and also say a few words during the service.
The event is in response to an invitation from the National Day of Prayer Task Force. The Task Force is a non-profit organization based in Colorado Springs, Colo. There are more than 40,000 prayer gatherings taking place from coast to coast at a variety of venues and locations throughout the day.
