AUSTIN — The first pontoon boat tours of the 2018 season will be offered at Sinnemahoning State Park on Sunday.
Join park staff for a relaxing and informative one-hour pontoon boat tour of the George B. Stevenson Reservoir to search for mergansers, eagles, turtles, and other wildlife while learning about the history and ecology of the reservoir.
Pontoon tours start at 10:30 a.m., noon, and 1:30 p.m. Reservations are required. To register, visit the online DCNR Calendar of events at http://events.dcnr.pa.us or call the park office at 814-647-8401. The program is free, but donations are requested.
The baby eagles are getting bigger every day. The Berge Run eagle nest at the Wildlife Viewing Area, just one-half mile north of the Wildlife Center entrance, offers park visitors an opportunity to view nest action live through binoculars and high-powered scope with help from park volunteers.
Eagle nest watch will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m on both Saturday and Sunday, at the Wildlife Viewing Area. Volunteers will be available to answer questions about the bald eagles of Sinnemahoning State Park and assist with locating and viewing the nest.
