The National Day of Prayer will be observed Thursday in Bradford with “Prayer in the Square” at noon in Veterans Square.
The event is free and open to all. It is an ecumenical Christian gathering to unite in prayer for our government, military, first responders, schools and more.
“The event is a rallying cry for churches to be in prayer for ourselves, our community and our nation,” said Rev. Robert Jeffrey.
The National Day of Prayer is an annual observance held on the first Thursday of May, inviting people to pray for the nation. It was created in 1952 by a joint resolution of the U.S. Congress, and signed into law by President Harry S. Truman.
There are more than 40,000 prayer gatherings taking place from coast to coast at a variety of venues and locations throughout the day.
The event is sponsored by the Bradford Area Ministerium and Destinations-Bradford.
