Charges are pending in alleged vehicle theft

KANE — An 18-year-old Gifford man is being sought by Kane-based state police for allegedly taking a sport-utility vehicle without permission.

State police are investigating a report of unauthorized use of a motor vehicle which occurred between 9:30 and 11:30 p.m. Thursday on Route 646 in Gifford.

Police said Tyler J. Newman, 18, took a gray 2011 Kia SUV with damage to the passenger side of the vehicle. The registration on the vehicle is HKY3573. Anyone with information on the whereabouts of Newman or the SUV is asked to contact state police.

Charges are pending.
