NIGHT CLASSES: Where can an old news hound learn new tricks?
Marty Wilder of Marshburg writes with a question for our readers: “I want to know what happened to Bradford school district’s continuing education program. I took quite a few classes at this night school — Spanish, woodworking, painting and drawing, among others — and it was always well attended. They had all kinds of practical classes such as quilting, basic computer use, photography, beginners golf, and many, many more.
“So did they discontinue the program? If so, why, especially since so many people had taken advantage of it.”
It sounds like a neat program. Maybe one of our readers has some insight into why we don’t hear about it?
If the name Marty Wilder sounds familiar, it’s because she is The Era’s former managing editor. In fact, she used to write this column.
ZIPPO HACK: Maybe your old Zippo lighter doesn’t work they way it did decades ago.
When you’re from Bradford, an old Zippo is a part of local heritage, worth saving from the trash pile.
Hackaday.com recently shared an idea for find new purpose for your cherished lighter.
Hackaday.com’s April 20 post by Adam Fabio describes an idea by Laura Kampf for turning the lighter’s case into a carrier for screwdriver bits.

The website spreads ideas related to the “art of Hack.”
What does that mean?
“Hacking is an art form that uses something in a way which it was not originally intended,” the site states. “This highly creative activity can be highly technical, simple clever, or both. Hackers bask in the glory of building it instead of buying it, repairing it rather than trashing it, and raiding their junk bins for new projects every time they can steal a few moments away.”
