A woman accused of shooting her boyfriend in the pelvic area in a Bradford apartment waived a preliminary hearing Wednesday before District Judge Dominic Cercone.
Joann E. Hull, 33, of Annin Creek Road, Turtlepoint, is charged with two counts of aggravated assault, a first-degree felony and a second-degree felony; simple assault and recklessly endangering another person, both second-degree misdemeanors.
According to the criminal complaint, Hull, who was then living at 24 Chamberlain Ave., Bradford, called 911 at 1:46 p.m. on April 7 to report the alleged shooting.
Officers arrived on the scene and found her standing on the porch. She kept saying “that her boyfriend was upstairs and that he needs help, please help him,” the complaint stated.
Two officers went upstairs at the residence and found Lloyd Baribeau, who “appeared to have an injury in the abdomen area but would not show the officers,” the complaint read.
Officers said emergency medical personnel checked Baribeau and determined he was shot in the pelvic area with an exit wound near or around the right buttock. He was transported from the scene to Wagner Avenue, from where he was flown via medical helicopter to Erie County Medical Center in Buffalo, N.Y. He underwent emergency surgery and was listed in stable condition, the criminal complaint stated.
Hull allegedly admitted to both a Bradford City Police officer and a 911 operator that she shot Baribeau. Hull spoke to police again at the station, and again admitted to shooting Baribeau, the criminal complaint alleges.
The criminal complaint indicated the shooting occurred during a domestic dispute, but no specific motive was stated.
Hull was initially jailed on $75,000 bail, but she has since been released, having posted 10 percent of $50,000 bail.
Bradford attorney Greg Henry is listed as Hull’s lawyer.
