MEMORIAL DAY:Memorial Day is just a month away, and The Era is once again putting together our annual Some Gave All edition.
This section provides a chance for us to remind readers of the sacrifice that members of our own community made for our freedom and safety — but we need your help.
We want to find the names, faces and stories of those who died serving the United States.
Do any readers know of a local family member or community member whose story of sacrifice has not been told in awhile? We want to compile photos and stories of men and women from the area who died in battle or while serving our nation.
Some Gave All will be published Memorial Day weekend.
The deadline for submissions is May 15.
That deadline may be almost three weeks away, but trust us: that day will creep up fast.
It takes time for us to put together and print the edition, which is why we’re asking now. All submissions are welcome, as long as the deceased has a local connection.
Submissions can be dropped off or sent via email.
Email submissions to news@bradfordera.com. Attached photos should be original and scanned in high resolution. Photocopied images are not print quality and should not be submitted.
For anyone who brings materials to The Era newsroom, it is best to call ahead to ensure that someone will be on hand to scan or copy any information that is submitted. Call the newsroom at 362-6531 after 1 p.m. Monday through Friday to make an appointment.
Materials such as family records or photos will be copied or scanned while one waits; The Era does not wish to have such materials left in the newsroom. Please, do not send original materials in the mail.
The focus of the Memorial Day edition is to honor people who died serving our country.
In the fall, we seek submissions about all veterans to observe Veterans Day in November. Keep us in mind at that time, too!
