BRADFORD — The Lady Raiders held Bradford to just three total hits in 25-1 and 15-0 wins to take both ends of Tuesday’s doubleheader.
Carlie McManigle pitched in both games for Brookville, giving up just a run and two hits in the three-inning opener before shutting out the Owls in a four-inning second game.
Brookville had offensive contributions from just about every in its lineup, but were led by Emily Kramer with seven RBI and Megrah Suhan with six. Suhan had two doubles in each game.
The Raiders (2-5) had dropped their first five games of the season before Tuesday.
Bradford, meanwhile, fell to 0-8 in 2018.
“Tonight we struggled to find our groove and fight back,” Bradford head coach Jennifer Snow said. “We are showing signs of improvement in some areas. We are talking and calling out plays better but we still need to settle in to make throws or keep the glove down at times. We were able to put a few girls on base but struggled to capitalize on those moments.”
After playing six games over the past five days, the Owls (0-8) are off until Friday’s matchup against Otto-Eldred.
Coudersport 11, Cameron County 1
EMPORIUM — Joplin Osgood hit a two-run homer as part of an eight-run second inning to propel Coudersport past the Red Raiders on Tuesday.
The Falcons (4-2) also got a home run from Shaelyn Black in the fourth inning as part of her three-hit day. Paiton Whipple added two hits and two RBI, as well.
“Our downfall was that one bad inning,” Cameron County coach Jocelyn Wensel said. “We just couldn’t come back after that.”
The Red Raiders (3-3) also ran into a solid performance in the circle from Madison Smith. The Coudersport senior allowed just one run and six hits while striking out seven batters.
Both teams play next on Thursday, with Coudersport hosting Oswayo Valley and Cameron County against Port Allegany.
