SHEFFIELD — The Port Allegany girls track team swept its tri-meet on Wednesday, taking home wins against Sheffield and Smethport.
Emma Fox paced the Gators as she tripled with wins in the 400 relay, long jump and triple jump.
Port Allegany won each of the three relay events, with Erin Stauffer and Gracie Archer both part of two first-place relay teams. Archer also won individual events in the 800 and 1,600.
“The girls had a very nice meet,” PA coach Aaron Clark said. “I moved some girls around to different events. It was a good effort by them in some cold weather.”
Clark also highlighted the individual performance of Madison Mahon, who won the 100 hurdles with a time of 22.11 in her first event of the year.
The Port Allegany girls moved to 3-2 on the season. The Gators are scheduled to participate in the Kane Invitational on Saturday.
Smethport, meanwhile, had three double winners in Hailey Wright (200,400), Victoria Gamet (3200 relay, 300 hurdles) and Marissa Jack (shot put, discus).
In the boys meet, the Hubbers earned a pair of wins, defeating Port Allegany 80-61 and Sheffield 77-63.
Christian Tanner notched a quadruple for Smethport with wins in the 400, 800, 1600 relay, and 3200 relay. Darian Gregory tripled in the 1600, 3200, and 1600 relay. Eric Szarowicz doubled in both the 1600 and 3200 relays.
“I was pleased with the competitiveness of our teams,” Smethport coach Rick Woodring said. “We had some nice personal bests. Christian Tanner had a super time in the 400. He’s right on the school record. Our throwers did really well and scored a lot of points. We also had Brandon Peterson qualify for districts in the high jump.”
Bryce Baker and David Talkington both doubled for Port Allegany, with Baker winning the 200 and 110 hurdles, and Talkington winning the long jump and triple jump.
Smethport will also be at the Kane Invitational on Saturday.
