EMPORIUM — Garren Black got it done both on the mound and at the plate in leading Oswayo Valley to a 6-3 victory over Cameron County on Wednesday.
Black struck out 13 batters while allowing no walks over six-plus innings to earn the win, while also smacking a solo home run in the fifth inning as part of a 3-for-4 day at the plate.
Ryan Graves, meanwhile, went 2-for-3 with a double for OV (2-1).
For Cameron County, Adam Shaffer went 2-for-3 with a double while also going two innings on the mound (two strikeouts, one walk).
Cam County coach James Cooney pointed to a plethora of mental errors by his squad as the key factor in the game.
“Except for the Black home run, there wasn’t a run scored by OV that we didn’t contribute to in some way,” he said. “You can’t give a team like Oswayo Valley those kind of opportunities.”
Cameron County (2-3) will host Elk Catholic on Friday.
